Sincere. The word comes from the Latin words "sine" and "cera." Combined these words mean "without wax." In the past, sculptors covered flaws in their work with hot wax so their pieces appeared perfect. However, this method was considered deceptive. Thus, when a sculptor did not use wax, his work was considered "sincere."
